DMARC record checker
See a domain’s DMARC policy, where its reports go and whether it actually protects against spoofed email.
Live DNS lookup over DNS-over-HTTPS. You can also paste an email address.
DMARC tags
| Tag | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
v | Version, always DMARC1 | v=DMARC1 |
p | Policy: none, quarantine or reject | p=quarantine |
sp | Policy for subdomains | sp=reject |
np | Policy for subdomains that don’t exist (RFC 9989) | np=reject |
t | Testing mode: receivers apply one level less (RFC 9989) | t=y |
rua | Where aggregate reports go | rua= |
ruf | Where failure reports go | ruf= |
adkim / aspf | Alignment mode: r (relaxed) or s (strict) | adkim=s |
RFC 9989 replaced RFC 7489 in May 2026. It added np and t and removed pct, rf and ri. The checker still explains those three when a record uses them, since receivers that follow the old standard keep reading them.
How alignment, policies and reports work together is covered in DMARC record explained.
Example records
_dmarc.example.com. TXT "v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@example.com"
_dmarc.example.com. TXT "v=DMARC1; p=reject; rua=mailto:dmarc@example.com; adkim=s; aspf=s"
No record yet, or one that needs fixing? The DMARC generator builds it and shows where to add it at your DNS host.
