The best email verification tools all do the same core job: check the syntax, look up the domain’s mail servers and ask the receiving server whether the mailbox exists, without sending a message. Where they differ is price, billing model, how they report catch-all domains, and what they bundle on top. This comparison covers ten tools, using only what each vendor publishes on its own pricing pages and documentation, checked October 9, 2026.
Disclosure: we make emailvalidation.io, one of the ten tools. We have tried to state the other vendors’ strengths as plainly as our own, and every figure links to its source at the end of the page.
How we compared the tools
What we compared, for each tool:
- Price for 5,000, 10,000 and 100,000 verifications, taken from the vendor’s own pricing page in US dollars, monthly billing where a subscription is the only option. Where a page showed a local currency, we used the USD price list the same page publishes.
- Free tier: how many checks you get without paying, and whether they renew.
- Billing rules: pay-as-you-go or subscription, whether credits expire, and whether unknown results are refunded.
- API and bulk: whether there is a real-time API, a bulk or file endpoint, and list upload in the web app.
- Catch-all handling: how the tool reports domains that accept every address, from its API documentation.
- Integrations and data location, where the vendor states them.
What we did not do: we did not run an accuracy test. We did not create accounts with the other vendors, so this page has no accuracy ranking, no speed measurements and no “unknown rate” per tool. Most vendors advertise accuracy of 99 % or more; we don’t repeat those claims because we could not check them. If accuracy decides your choice, the section run your own test shows how to compare tools on your own data in an afternoon.

| Clearout | 100 at sign-up | $40 | $65 | $400 | Credits (“onwards” pricing), not sold to new users; subscriptions from $23 / month |
| MillionVerifier | 100 at sign-up | – | $39 | $149 | Credits from 10,000; never expire |

| emailvalidation.io | 100 / month | $9.99 / month | $34.99 / month† | $94.99 / month | Subscription; yearly billing gives two months free |
* Hunter’s Growth plan has 10,000 credits a month, enough for 20,000 verifications; the Starter plan ($49) covers 4,000. No self-serve Hunter plan covers 100,000 verifications a month.
† emailvalidation.io has no 10,000 plan; Medium includes 25,000 checks a month.
Two things to keep in mind when you read the table:
- Credits and subscriptions aren’t the same deal. A credit pack is paid once and, at most vendors, never expires. A subscription renews every month. If you verify one list a year, the cheapest pack wins. If you verify sign-ups, CRM records or lists every month, a monthly allowance is usually cheaper per address.
- What counts as a charge differs. ZeroBounce, Kickbox, Emailable and Bouncer refund unknown results; MillionVerifier charges only for good and bad results, so neither unknown nor catch-all addresses cost a credit; Hunter skips disposable addresses. Verifalia charges 2 or 4 credits per address at its “High” and “Extreme” quality levels instead of 1.

Tool by tool
ZeroBounce
ZeroBounce sells credits from $39 for 2,000; 10,000 cost $129 and 100,000 cost $649 on its calculator. The ZeroBounce ONE subscription starts at $99 a month for at least 10,000 credits, and credits don’t expire while the subscription runs. The free tier gives 100 validations a month if you sign up with a business domain. Unknown results and duplicate removal are free. Beyond verification, ZeroBounce sells activity data, AI scoring (one more credit per address), an email finder (20 credits per hit) and inbox placement tests. Its API documentation lists separate US and EU endpoints, and it deletes uploaded files after 30 days. See also our ZeroBounce alternative page.
NeverBounce
NeverBounce charges $0.008 per email up to 5,000, $0.005 from 10,000, $0.004 from 100,000 and less above that. Credits expire 12 months after purchase. The Growth plan ($49 a month for up to 10,000 emails, $159 for up to 100,000) adds CRM auto-sync and scoring. The API reports one of five results (valid, invalid, disposable, catchall, unknown) and has a jobs endpoint for lists, with wrappers for PHP, Ruby, Node.js, Python, Go, .NET and Java. It lists more than 80 integrations. See our NeverBounce alternative page.
Kickbox
Kickbox has a plain price list: 500 checks for $5, 5,000 for $40, 10,000 for $70 and 100,000 for $500, plus 100 free. Unknown results are refunded. Its API returns a result, a reason, flags for role, free, disposable and accept_all addresses, a typo suggestion and a Sendex quality score from 0 to 1. Kickbox says verification and support are based in both the US and the EU.
Emailable
Emailable’s credits start at 5,000 for $38; 10,000 cost $60 and 100,000 cost $420, and they never expire. New accounts get 250 credits. Unknown results and duplicates are refunded when a list finishes. The API’s batch endpoint takes up to 50,000 addresses at a time, and each result has a state (deliverable, undeliverable, risky, unknown), a reason and an accept_all flag. A subscription lowers the price by 15 %.
Clearout
Clearout’s pricing page lists pay-as-you-go credits from $40 for 5,000, $65 for 10,000 and $400 for 100,000, but its pricing guide says pay-as-you-go is no longer available to new users, so new accounts start with a subscription. Credits never expire, and the free account has 100. Subscriptions run from $23 a month (3,000 credits) and $58 a month (10,000) on monthly billing, less on yearly. The API is rate-limited by plan, for example 25 requests a minute on the 3,000-credit subscription and 55 on the 10,000-credit one. Clearout’s “Deep Verify” aims to resolve catch-all addresses into valid or invalid, and it bundles an email finder, a form guard and a LinkedIn extension.
MillionVerifier
MillionVerifier has the cheapest credit packs once you buy 100,000 or more: 10,000 credits cost $39, 25,000 $59, 100,000 $149 and 1 million $449. There is no pack below 10,000. It charges only for good and bad results, so unknown and catch-all addresses are free, and it promises a refund of your last payment if verified lists bounce more than 4 % hard. A single-address API and a CSV bulk API are available, and EverClean verifies new contacts daily inside Mailchimp, HubSpot or ActiveCampaign.
Bouncer
Bouncer, based in Poland and hosted in the EU, sells credits from 1,000 for $8; 5,000 cost $35, 10,000 $60 and 100,000 $400. Credits never expire, duplicates and unknown results are free, and you get 100 credits to start. Its API has real-time, batch and batch-synchronous endpoints; catch-all domains come back with acceptAll: "yes" and the status risky. Bouncer also sells a deliverability kit (inbox placement and blocklist tests) and a form widget.
Verifalia
Verifalia’s credit packs cost $28.90 for 5,000, $49.90 for 10,000 and $389 for 100,000, and never expire. The free plan gives 25 verifications a day; paid plans from $9 a month add more daily credits (250 on Starter). One credit buys a “Standard” check; “High” and “Extreme” checks cost 2 and 4 credits and are meant for lists where you need a definite answer for every address. Catch-all servers return the status ServerIsCatchAll. Verifalia publishes SDKs for .NET, Go, Java, JavaScript, PHP and Ruby.
Hunter
Hunter is an email finder and outreach tool first. Its credits pay for both finding and verifying: one email found costs 1 credit, one verification 0.5. Starter ($49 a month, 2,000 credits) covers 4,000 verifications; Growth ($149, 10,000 credits) covers 20,000; Scale ($299, 25,000 credits) covers 50,000. Yearly billing is about 30 % cheaper. The free plan has 50 credits a month. Failed verifications are not charged, and the verifier returns valid, invalid, accept_all, webmail, disposable or unknown. If you mainly verify lists, you pay for prospecting features you don’t use. See our Hunter alternative page.
emailvalidation.io
Our plans are monthly allowances: Free (100 checks a month, 10 requests a minute), Small ($9.99, 5,000), Medium ($34.99, 25,000) and Large ($94.99, 100,000), which works out to 0.20, 0.14 and 0.095 cents per check. Yearly billing gives two months free. Every result has 15 fields, including a state (deliverable, undeliverable, risky, unknown), one of 11 reasons, a score from 0 to 1 and a typo suggestion. The catch_all field is filled only when you request it with catch_all=1, from the Small plan up; on the free plan it stays empty. For domains we already know to be catch-all, the mailbox check is skipped and the address comes back as deliverable with the reason low_deliverability. Lists go through the bulk email verifier (up to 50 addresses per run; without an account it checks a few addresses an hour) or the bulk API (up to 100,000 addresses per job, with a signed webhook when it’s done). Large lists can take a day or longer, because checks are spread out per receiving mail server. The same credits pay for the email finder (10 credits per search).
Which email verification tool to choose
Based on the published prices and features above:
- One big list, lowest cost per address: MillionVerifier ($149 for 100,000, catch-all and unknown free) or Verifalia ($389, with stricter quality levels when you need them). Bouncer is at $400; Clearout’s packs are no longer sold to new users.
- Steady monthly volume (sign-up forms, CRM sync, a list every month): a subscription. emailvalidation.io starts at $9.99 for 5,000 a month; Clearout, NeverBounce Growth and ZeroBounce ONE are subscription options from the others.
- Verification from your own code: compare the APIs, not the dashboards. Our best email validation API comparison covers response fields, bulk endpoints and SDKs.
- Data processed in the EU: Bouncer (hosted in the EU), Kickbox (verification in the US and the EU) and ZeroBounce (a separate EU API endpoint) say so on their own pages.
- Catch-all domains are a big share of your list: Clearout’s Deep Verify and MillionVerifier’s included catch-all verification target exactly that. Read what a catch-all email is before you pay extra for it.
- Finding and verifying addresses in one tool: Hunter, if you also want sequences and a lead database; our email finder plus the LinkedIn email finder, if you want finding and verification on one cheap allowance.
- No-code connections to your email platform: Emailable (87 listed), NeverBounce (80+) and MillionVerifier (40+) have the broadest lists.
If you’re replacing a tool you already use, our alternatives pages compare ZeroBounce, NeverBounce, Hunter and RocketReach in more detail.
Run your own accuracy test
Because accuracy depends on your list (B2B domains behind security gateways behave differently from consumer webmail), the most useful test is your own:
- Build a sample with known outcomes. Take 100–200 addresses you’ve mailed recently: some that were delivered and engaged, some that hard bounced with a 5.1.1 code. Add a few addresses at domains you know to be catch-all.
- Run the same file through two or three tools on their free tiers, on the same day.
- Compare four numbers per tool: known bounces it marked undeliverable, known good addresses it marked undeliverable (false alarms), how many came back unknown, and how it labeled the catch-all domains.
- Price the result: multiply each tool’s price per address by your real monthly volume, including refunds for unknown results.
You can start with 100 free checks a month at emailvalidation.io, or check single addresses with the free email checker.
