How to set up MIT Mail in a mail app
- Choose add account → manual setup (or "other account") in your mail app.
- Enter your full MIT Mail email address and password.
- Pick IMAP for incoming mail and enter the server, port and security from the table above.
- Enter the SMTP server for outgoing mail (outgoing.mit.edu, port 465) and enable authentication with the same login.
If the login keeps failing, enable IMAP/POP access in the MIT Mail web settings and use an app password if your account uses two-step verification.

What is the MIT Mail SMTP server?
The outgoing (SMTP) server of MIT Mail is outgoing.mit.edu, port 465 with SSL/TLS. Log in with your part before the @.
What are the MIT Mail IMAP settings?
Incoming mail (IMAP): server outlook.office365.com, port 993, security SSL/TLS, user name: your full email address.
Why does my MIT Mail login fail in a mail app?
Most providers block plain password logins from mail apps when two-step verification is on. Create an app-specific password in your account's security settings, or use an app that supports OAuth sign-in. Also check that IMAP or POP access is enabled in the webmail settings.
