Is verizon.net a valid email domain?

Is verizon.net a valid email? For addresses that already exist, yes. Verizon left the email business, and verizon.net mailboxes that customers chose to keep now run on AOL Mail. Nobody gets a new one.

Updated October 10, 2026 · 2 min read

Short answer

Yes, but only for existing addresses. Verizon has retired its own email service. Customers who wanted to keep their verizon.net address moved it to AOL Mail, where it still works, and the domain’s MX record points to the same Yahoo-run host as aol.com. Addresses that weren’t moved are gone, and Verizon doesn’t create new ones.

Who runs verizon.net

Not Verizon anymore. Verizon’s email support page says plainly that Verizon “has retired our email service” after a decision to get out of the email business. When it announced the change, Verizon gave customers a choice (Verizon: upcoming changes to verizon.net email): move the account to AOL Mail and keep the verizon.net address, or switch to another provider and lose it.

The addresses that were moved are AOL Mail accounts today. Verizon tells those users to sign in at mail.aol.com with their full verizon.net address, and AOL’s help has a page on POP and IMAP settings for Verizon.net AOL Mail accounts. In DNS, verizon.net has a single MX record, mx-aol.mail.gm0.yahoodns.net, the same host as aol.com. AOL Mail is provided by Yahoo, and the domain’s SPF record includes Yahoo’s _ipspf.yahoo.com next to Verizon’s own address ranges. The DMARC policy is p=reject.

Can you still create a verizon.net address?

No. There is no Verizon email service left to sign up for. Verizon’s support page also says customers “no longer have the option” to keep a verizon.net address, and that data not moved before December 15, 2017 has been deleted.

Is verizon.net a valid email for your list?

The domain is valid. Whether an address on it still works depends on what happened to the account:

Check old verizon.net contacts before you mail them: one at a time with is this a real email address, or the whole file with the bulk email verifier. If you still use a verizon.net address yourself, the Verizon email settings page has the AOL server settings.

A real domain doesn’t mean the mailbox exists. The email checker looks up the domain’s MX records and asks the mail server about the mailbox without sending an email, and it flags disposable, role and free-provider addresses.
