The most common reason to look for ZeroBounce alternatives is price: ZeroBounce charges $649 for 100,000 credits, while other verifiers list the same volume for $94.99 to $500. The second reason is scope. ZeroBounce has grown into a deliverability platform with inbox placement tests, warmup, blacklist and DMARC monitoring; if you only verify addresses, you pay for a product built around more than that. All figures below come from each vendor’s own pricing page and documentation, checked October 9, 2026.
We make emailvalidation.io, one of the alternatives on this page. ZeroBounce’s strengths are listed in their own section, and the sources are at the end.
Quick verdict
- Choose ZeroBounce if you use its deliverability tools (inbox placement tests, warmup, DMARC and blacklist monitoring) or its activity data and AI scoring, or if you need its EU API endpoint.
- Choose emailvalidation.io if you verify every month, through an API or in lists, and want the lowest price per address: $9.99 for 5,000 checks a month, $94.99 for 100,000.
- Choose a credit-pack verifier such as MillionVerifier or Bouncer if you clean one big list now and then and don’t want a subscription.

Where ZeroBounce is stronger
ZeroBounce does more than verify, and some of it matters:
- Deliverability tools in one account. ZeroBounce ONE bundles inbox placement tests, email server tests, warmup, blacklist monitors (scanned every eight hours) and DMARC monitoring. We don’t offer warmup or monitoring; we have a free email spam checker and DNS tools, which is not the same thing.
- More result types. Besides valid, invalid, catch-all and unknown, ZeroBounce reports spam traps and do-not-mail addresses, and sells activity data and AI scoring. We don’t detect spam traps.
- Unknown results are always free. ZeroBounce’s pricing page says it never charges for unknown results or for removing duplicates. We refund timeouts in bulk jobs when the job completes; that is narrower.
- Data location choice. Its API documentation lists a default endpoint, a US-only endpoint and an EU endpoint, and uploaded files are erased 30 days after upload.
- Speed claims and support. ZeroBounce says it cleans 100,000 addresses in 45 minutes and offers 24/7 support. Our bulk jobs check addresses per receiving mail server, and large lists can take a day or longer.
- Credits that last. With a ZeroBounce ONE subscription, credits never expire and unused credits roll over.
Where emailvalidation.io is the better fit
Price per address. On ZeroBounce’s calculator, 25,000 credits cost $274 ($0.011 each). Our Medium plan covers 25,000 checks a month for $34.99 (0.14 cents each), and Large covers 100,000 for $94.99 (0.095 cents). Even if you only need a list cleaned once, one month of a plan costs less than the matching credit pack. The full table is on our email validation API pricing page.
An API built for code paths. Every response has the same 15 fields: state (deliverable, undeliverable, risky, unknown), one of 11 reason values, score from 0 to 1, did_you_mean, and flags for role, disposable and free addresses. Only successful calls count against your quota, and errors carry a machine-readable field name. The email validation API page has the request and response.
Bulk with webhooks. POST /v1/bulk takes up to 100,000 addresses as a JSON array or a CSV/TXT file. When the job completes, you get one signed webhook (HMAC-SHA256), and you download results as JSON or CSV with your original columns plus 15 result columns. Duplicates and invalid rows are free; timeouts are refunded at completion; deleting a job refunds unverified addresses. See email list cleaning for the workflow.
Catch-all when you want it. Catch-all detection is opt-in with catch_all=1 on paid plans, so you decide per request whether to run the extra check, for example skip it on sign-up forms and use it for list cleaning. Our guide on catch-all email explains what to do with those addresses.
AI agents and SDKs. A hosted MCP server lets Claude, Cursor and other agents validate addresses and start bulk jobs (MCP server); official SDKs exist for JavaScript, Python and PHP, with clients for more languages.
What you give up compared with ZeroBounce: spam trap detection, activity data, deliverability monitoring, a stated data location, and fast processing of very large lists.
Moving from ZeroBounce
If you call ZeroBounce’s API today, plan for a small mapping layer:
| ZeroBounce status | emailvalidation.io |
|---|---|
valid | state: deliverable (reason valid_mailbox) |
invalid | state: undeliverable (reasons such as invalid_mailbox, invalid_mx) |
catch-all | catch_all: true, with catch_all=1 on the request |
unknown | state: unknown (reasons such as timeout, no_connect) |
spamtrap, do_not_mail | No equivalent |
Test with the free plan first: 100 checks a month, no credit card. Run the same 100 addresses through both services and compare where they disagree.
