The usual reasons to look for a Clearout alternative are price, catch-all results that cost a credit, and a product that has grown into prospecting (email finder, LinkedIn extension, form guard) when you only need verification. Below is a fair comparison with emailvalidation.io and other verifiers. Every competitor fact comes from the vendor’s own pricing page, pricing guide or API documentation, checked October 10–11, 2026.
Disclosure: we make emailvalidation.io, one of the alternatives on this page. Clearout’s strengths are listed in their own section, and the sources are at the end.
Clearout pricing (checked October 11, 2026)
Clearout’s pricing page has annual, monthly and one-time tabs. With monthly billing, the Starter plan costs $23 a month for 3,000 credits, and the Pro plan $58 a month for 10,000, $146 for 25,000 and $360 for 100,000. Annual billing lowers these; Pro with 10,000 credits shows $32 a month. The one-time tab lists 5,000 credits for $40, 10,000 for $65 and 100,000 for $400; mind the pay-as-you-go rule below. The rules from its pricing guide and help center:
- Plans: monthly or annual subscriptions, with “up to 20% lower credit cost” than one-time purchases.
- Pay as you go: “Pay-as-you-go is no longer an available option for new users.”
- Free credits: “New Clearout users get 100 free credits at signup, valid on any service.”
- Expiry: purchased credits never expire; unused subscription credits roll over. Discounted credits may expire.
- What is charged: “1 credit for valid/invalid/catch-all.” Unknown results, duplicates within one uploaded list and searches that find nothing are free.
- Auto top-up: minimum 5,000 credits, charged at the pay-as-you-go rate.
- Plan changes: “The new plan requires full payment. There are no prorated adjustments.”
Quick verdict
- Stay with Clearout if you use its email finder, LinkedIn extension or form guard, or its Deep Verify for catch-all and SEG-protected addresses.
- Choose emailvalidation.io if you want lower monthly prices for verification through an API or in lists: $9.99 for 5,000 checks, $34.99 for 25,000, $94.99 for 100,000.
- Choose MillionVerifier for one large list: it doesn’t charge for catch-all or unknown results.

Where Clearout is stronger
- Deep Verify for catch-all domains. Clearout says it resolves “more catch-all and SEG-protected emails into Valid or Invalid results”. We report catch-all addresses as
deliverablewith the reasonlow_deliverabilityand don’t try to resolve them further. - Credits that roll over and never expire. Unused subscription credits carry into the next month. Our monthly allowance resets.
- Unknown results are free on every check. We refund timeouts in bulk jobs when the job completes; a single API call that returns a result counts.
- More in one account. Clearout’s form guard checks email, phone and name in sign-up forms, and its Google Sheets add-on and WordPress plugin work without code.
- Regional API hosts. Its API documentation says the base URL “may vary based on your account host region”.
Where emailvalidation.io is the better fit
Lower monthly prices. At 25,000 checks a month, Clearout’s Pro plan costs $146 on monthly billing and our Medium plan $34.99; at 100,000 it’s $360 against $94.99. All our plans, from Free with 100 checks a month to Large, are on the email validation API pricing page; Small, Medium and Large work out to 0.20, 0.14 and 0.095 cents per address on monthly billing, excluding VAT.
No per-minute limit on paid plans. Clearout caps instant verification per plan, from 20 requests a minute on its smallest pay-as-you-go tier. Our paid plans have no per-minute limit; the free plan allows 10 requests a minute.
Bulk built for automation. POST /v1/bulk takes a JSON array or a CSV/TXT file of up to 100,000 addresses. You get one signed webhook when the job completes and download JSON or a CSV with your original columns plus 15 result columns. A failed job is refunded in full. Large lists can take a day or longer, because checks are paced per receiving mail server. Our email list cleaning service page has the steps.
Results for code paths. The email validation API returns 15 fields per address, including state, reason, score (0 to 1) and did_you_mean. Only successful calls count, and a 422 error names the field that caused it. For catch-all addresses, our catch-all email guide explains what to do.
An email finder too. If you also look up addresses, our email finder uses 10 credits per search, and the LinkedIn extension works on the free plan.
What you give up compared with Clearout: Deep Verify for catch-all domains, credits that roll over, free unknown results on single checks, the form guard and the no-code Sheets and WordPress tools.
